Continuing Education
Trans-Care's EMS Training Center provides a multitude of continuing education options for not only EMS providers but for all types of healthcare providers and even the general public. Ranging from American Heart Association courses such as Basic Life Support (i.e. CPR) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) to courses sponsored by the National Association of EMTs (NAEMT), American Academy of Pediatrics, and even EMS provider refresher courses. Check out what we have to offer below!
Basic Life Support (i.e. CPR) | AHA
The Basic Life Support (BLS) Course is a video-based, Instructor-led course that teaches both single-rescuer and team basic life support. The course trains participants to promptly recognize several life-threatening emergencies, give high-quality chest compressions, deliver appropriate ventilations and provide early use of an AED.
Emergency Medical Responder and Emergency Medical Technician courses include BLS at no additional charge, or attend one of our separate BLS courses.
Advanced Cardiac and Pediatric Advanced Life Support | AHA
Trans-Care provides ACLS and PALS courses - both initial provider and renewal courses. These courses are designed for advanced providers that may find themselves taking care of critically ill patients in the prehospital or in-hospital setting. An understanding of pharmacology and basic ECG interpretation is highly recommended for those participating in these courses.
Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) | NAEMT
PHTLS courses improve the quality of trauma care in your area and decrease mortality. The program is based on a prehospital trauma care philosophy, stressing the treatment of the multi-system trauma patient as a unique entity with specific needs. This may require an approach to the trauma patient that varies from traditional treatment modalities. PHTLS promotes critical thinking as the foundation for providing quality care. It is based on the belief that, given a good fund of knowledge and key principles, EMS practitioners are capable of making reasoned decisions regarding patient care. The PHTLS course is continuously updated and revised to keep up with the advances in the field, ATLS Guidelines and feedback from PHTLS participants. - NAEMT
Emergency Pediatric Care | NAEMT
The EPC course is a comprehensive NAEMT education program for EMS practitioners on the care of sick and injured children, addressing the full spectrum of emergency illnesses, injuries and scenarios that an EMS practitioner might encounter. While there are few pediatric encounters in the field, there are even fewer critical pediatric encounters and having the ability to differentiate those children who are in need of quick treatment and transport and those who do not, is essential.
Advanced Medical Life Support (AMLS) | NAEMT
NAEMT's Advanced Medical Life Support (AMLS) course is the first EMS education program that fully addresses how to best assess and manage the most common medical crises in patients, offering a "think outside the box" methodology. It is for all levels of practitioners with a strong commitment to patient care.
The course emphasizes the use of scene size-up, history, interactive group discussion on potential treatment strategies, and physical exam to systematically rule out and consider possibilities and probabilities in treating patients' medical crises. The course offers an initial assessment-based approach that progresses to a diagnostic-based approach to quickly develop the best treatment plan.
Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (TECC) | NAEMT
NAEMT's Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (TECC) course teaches EMS practitioners and other prehospital providers how to respond to and care for patients in a civilian tactical environment. This course does NOT result in "Tactical Paramedic" or "SWAT Medic" certification and does not focus on tactical maneuvers but rather focuses on the provision of medical care in austere environments.
Pediatric Education for Prehospital Professionals | AHA/AAP
PEPP represents a complete source of prehospital medical information for the emergency care of infants and children. Developed by the American Academy of Pediatrics, PEPP is an exciting curriculum designed to teach prehospital professionals how to better assess and manage ill or injured children.
EMS Safety | NAEMT
NAEMT's EMS Safety course teaches students how to protect themselves and their patients while on the job. It promotes a culture of safety and helps reduce the number of on-the-job fatalities and injuries. EMS Safety is the only national, comprehensive safety course for EMS practitioners. Its interactive format features real-life case studies and compelling discussions on current safety issues, and provides participants with a forum to share their own experiences. Critical thinking stations help build participants' risk assessment and decision-making skills.
EMT & Paramedic Refresher Courses
The 24-hour EMT and 48-hour Paramedic Refresher courses provide students with the needed CE hours to maintain state and/or NREMT certification/licensure.
